About The Living Practice & about me, Anna
The Living Practice was born from a decade of learning that happened largely outside the classroom - in the gaps, the cracks, and the seasons of life I was taught to rush past.
After a formal education that felt more like conformity than learning, I stepped away from traditional schooling at eighteen and began what I can only describe as an unconventional education: years of travel, self-directed study, and immersion in radically different ways of living. What began as a search for freedom slowly became something more precise - a genuine curiosity about how people actually learn, grow, and change, once the artificial structures of grades and deadlines are removed.
That curiosity eventually led me to Kaospilot, an international school known for reimagining education around reflection, systems thinking, and personal transformation rather than performance. There, I was introduced to a way of understanding the world that would become foundational to everything I do now: It taught me that everything - a body, a relationship, an organization, a forest - is a system, and that systems share recognizable patterns and rhythms.
This education also deepened my lifelong interest in reflective practices, community, and what it actually means to grow into oneself rather than into someone else's expectations. A turning point came several years later, while I was leading an internal innovation initiative for Kaospilot. I experienced burnout firsthand - not as an abstract concept, but as a full-body reality I couldn't think or work my way through. That experience became a sort of second, unplanned education: a direct, lived understanding of why rest, withdrawal, and "winter" seasons aren't failures to overcome, but necessary and intelligent parts of any natural cycle. That insight sits at the very center of The Living Practice today.
The Living Practice brings these threads together - systems thinking, embodied practice, and a hard-won respect for life's natural rhythms - into a framework that helps individuals and organizations recognize which season they're actually in, and how to move through it with more ease, honesty, and alignment. It's not a philosophy I learned from a distance; it's one I built from repeatedly living through the cycle itself - growth, breakdown, rest, and renewal - and learning, each time, a little more about how to move with it rather than against it.
This concept and univers emerged out of a time of deep loss and inner winter. It was created during a season marked by distress, uncertainty, and disconnection. Slowly, through returning to nature and to the natural rhythms within my own body, I found my way back to life again - and The Living Practice is the result of that. If you have arrived here without being in a major crisis, you are equally welcome! This practice is not only for moments of breakdown, but also for moments of growth, curiosity, and quiet readiness for something deeper. At its core, this is an education in returning to LIFE.
LIFE, as nature.
LIFE, lived with more depth and presence.
LIFE, with aw of all of the beauty that is present all around us always
LIFE, lived with rich experiences
It is an invitation to slow down enough to truly feel your experiences and to reflect on them. To deliberately land what you are moving through, so you can understand what is shifting within you and who you are becoming because of it.
